You may pay a little more than houses in the area, but in my opinion it's worth the money for the added security. The whole complex is gated including parking.

The gates are worthless. They stay open long enough for 4 cars to drive through, not to mention are broken sometimes and just stay open. Also the gates will just get held open for anyone. All it would take is for some one to wait outside until someone went through and then they could walk right it. I feel like the gates add a false sense of security.

Don't forget the part about taking away the button at the top lot gate. So now if you get in there you are stuck there unless someone lets you out...I miss the button!!!!!! It is a pain in the butt having to walk everyone out every time, especially when it is freezing! My friends drive over now just so they can leave when they want.

I actually think the worst part of CVA aside from its prison like qualities is the rent. Price per square foot is outrageous compared to houses off campus and the quality of the living space. Parking is somewhat difficult, but there are no amenities to protect motorcycles from the weather and they cannot be kept on a porch. Come winter snow removal is a major problem and I could not tell you how many times I had to flag down a truck to pull me out to the street.
If rent went down, and the option to provide your own furnishings was available this would be a much better place to live.

Reagan is a much better landlord than Janie ever was, however the apartments were disappointing and a rip off. Rooms are small, internet slow, beds are...
The only plus side is that it is a gated community and you dont have to deal with Flintoid harrassment all that often. I was robbed at gunpoint in the parking lot for a 40oz of King Cobra, but that was 2007 and since then no issues.
The policies are strict, and if you have a radio larger than an alarm clock you can count on a noise violation. Alarm clocks only get you warnings...

The only reason i lived here was because all of the good houses were taken.

We had some confrontation with the landlord for the first few months, and it was not very fun. I won't go into detail, but basically he was being very strict about what we could or couldn't do, and what we could bring into our apartment. However, mid-winter his sister took over property management, and things got much better. She and her husband were very responsive to everything we needed, and were great to work with.
There is a washer and dryer in the complex, but it is coin-operated.
There is also central A/C, but there are only controls on the main level, and since we lived upstairs it was often too hot in the summer.
Overall this is a good place to rent. The rate is good, and the location couldn't be any better. Just make sure to go through Kathleen if you have any issues and you'll be fine.
