I feel that a B rating is giving a little to much credit!

Now that I am leaving Kettering I putting in some reviews. During my career I have lived in three places (excluding work term). The dorms, Campus Village, and a rental house. This place by far was the worst out of the three. The only thing that it has going for it is that it is near the school and has gates (if they are working) we'll get to that later. However, there are a lot of nice rental houses that you can get for the rates they were (and maybe still are) charging. Think about it, ENTIRE house or crappy room that is about the size of your dorm?
Maintenance they can get some. When I was there, instead of just replacing the washing machine they kept trying to “fix” it. Kitchen floor flooded after every time they “fixed” it (3x’s total). However, they did hook us up with quarters for the washing machines in the lobby, but by then I was ticked.
Things I never reported, but let’s be realistic, the hassle was more than it was worth:
Furnace fan was going out, would make screeching noise on start-up
Filter was pretty rough too.
Floor trim was coming off in bathroom…this reminds me. Everything in the apartment is cheap.
Chairs were falling apart
Let’s talk about internet. I think it went out about once a month. How do you tick a bunch of engineers off? Have flaky and slow internet. Rocket-net is udder and complete junk! I guess dropping in some T1’s with a QOS engine would be too much for these folks.
Let’s talk security. It was ok; just remember Flintiods will get in if they want. They know their way around a bolt cutter (you can see where they had to patch areas that have been cut). The cameras didn’t work, at least the one directly outside of my apartment it was pointed down and disconnected. They gates worked occasionally. And the gate doors can be kicked in; the magnetic locks are not strong enough. They *might* have fixed that.
Overall, get a nice rental house or live at that new place downtown. I hear it is nice.

The nice thing about the Apartments are that they are close to the school. The Apartments are also furnished with 1980s furniture which are falling apart. One of the most terrible aspects of these apartments is the spotty internet service provided by RocketNet. The worst part however, is that the landlady is not very nice at all and doesn't take complaints seriously. For example, when the internet is down and the students complain, she asks the students to fix it on their own.
In addition, the apartments are quite expensive to live in. Also there are many hidden fees that can be accrued by the management. At the end of this term I am not renewing my lease. Many other students have left as well.

Oh, don't worry, it's not necessarily gone for good. That just means that someone had a problem with what this user had to say, so we're taking a closer look at the review to see if it violates our Terms of Service, or if maybe someone is just being whiny.

Internet was down approximately 20% of the last term I stayed there. It was always spotty when I stayed there. It was down for almost an entire week one time.
Furniture was broken. They replaced a table and some chairs eventually. We complained about a broken couch for 2 terms and all they offered to do was remove the couch and not replace it.
Way over priced!!!!
I moved to a Kettering rental house down the road and I am saving $600 dollars and there are only 3 of us living in an entire house vs. 5 living in an apartment. The house is equally close to the school and the only major difference is that there is no central air but for $600 dollars I just got a $100 window unit that I get to keep.
Overall I wish I had never wasted my money on that place.
